When turning the ignition key the car makes a rapid clicking sound. Lights work. Car does not turn over. Your insights are appreciated.

I suspect you have lost your radio stations as well.
If so, open the hood and clean the battery terminals and retighten properly.
Sounds like this might be what your problem is.
Make sure you have the key turned "off" to keep from "spiking" any electronics as you disconnect and reconnect the battery cables.
Car may need to have battery recharged or replaced as well.
