Dear Mr. Auto Tech, I do all of the basic maintenance on my vehicle and have for a long time. I drive a 2000 Chevy and feel comfortable doing it. That being said, I am considering buying a Mini Cooper and I am curious if I will be able to do the same maintenance without Hi Tech equipment. Thanks, Jeremy
About the only thing you can do on this vehicle is change fluids and filters. To change the oil you will need a special socket to remove the oil filter housing. Other than that you should be able to do the maintenance on the mini just like you would on the 2000 Chevy. Just remember to use the correct fluids and filters. BMW does not take kindly to mixing types of fluids in the engine, cooling system, or transmission. If you have any more questions give us a call at James Auto Center 850-763-0555 and set up a time for a free consultation and test drive. Hope this helps…
