I have a 2002 chevy suburban 1500 with a 5.3 liter engine. Everything work on the engine with the exception of the cruise control. I took it to a local shop and they just scratched their head and said they had no idea why the cruise didn’t work. They said the brake switch was good and the on off switch was good as well. They suspect the cruise control servo but didn’t want to just guess that it was bad and replace it. Do you have any ideas that might be the cause of my cruise not working on my Suburban?
The servo may be defective and the shop be right on the money. I will tell you that a good shop will have the test procedure “on line” to VERIFY that the servo is the problem. Here is what I bet the problem is, check your brake lights and verify that they work. If they don’t work then check your brake light bulbs. I know this sound too easy and I may be completely wrong. But I don’t know how many cruise controls I have repaired over the years by replacing blown brake light bulbs. The brake light bulbs when working as they should complete the “ground path” to complete the circuit to allow the cruise control to work.
Let me know what you find.
